Baby Burp Cloths
These would be great for a baby shower gift or for your very own grandchild.

I used prewashed flannel approx 10" wide and 12" long, finished the edges with a zig zag on my sewing maching
and embroidered a design at the bottom. The design shown (parrot) can be found on my Mom's site

Hoop 1 layer of tearaway backing
|
|
|
Using tacky spray attach a piece of cutaway backing to tearway..do not hoop it, just place it on the top
|
|
|
First set of stitches is for the ribbon hanger...Use these placement stitches and tape a piece of ribbon approx 18" doubled over ro form a loop across the line and then run next set of stitches to secure
|
|
|
The next color will run your placement stitches for the burpie towel
|
|
|
Gather the fabric evenly inside the placement stitches and tape in place.

|

Place a piece of fabric over the hoop and secure with tacky spray. Run the next set of stitches which will hole everything in place.
Run the next set of stitches and the wording.

|
|
Once the wording is complete, place a bottom fabric under the hoop and secure with tacky spray. Run the next set of stitches which will sew all of the pieces together and give you a cut line before the final satin stitch

This shows the design after the last outline stitch and after I trimmed all of the excess fabric from the top and bottom layers. You will remove all excess except the tearaway. DO NOT UNHOOP

This shows the bottom after its trimmed.
Put hoop back on machine and finish the last outline which is a satin stitch.
