Sunbonnet Sue Quilt Block

Applique

For all Sunbonnet Sue lovers who want to make

a lap quilt, wall hanging or endless other

possibilities. If you want to run the applique without the block outline, skip the

first part.

This block is available in all three main hoop sizes

4x4, 5x7 and 6x10

To make the blocks in the hoop I layer the fabric(s) and backings

as follows

1 layer tearaway stabilizer,

Bottom layer print side down

1 layer of a quilt batting. I like to use

a thin batting for flexibility.

The top fabric is placed print or good side

up. Hoop all layers together!

Run design completely thru, unhoop and then trim close to edging without

cutting the threads. You will be satin stitching the blocks together so

the little roughness on the edges will be covered.

After I completely sew the project together, I finish my edges with a satin stitch

border around the outside.
